Acupuncture is a healing act of inserting a needle into an acupuncture point in a meridian to correct an imbalance of the energetic pathways relating to the organs, muscles and nerves of the human body's surface.
The meridians connect the interior of the body with the exterior. Most acupuncture points relate to the meridians, Each acupuncture point has a defined therapeutic action. Those points are chosen according to Traditional Oriental Medicine which will promote natural healing of the body and improve its functioning. The needle may be applied with an electronic or heat source to further stimulate the points.
Electro-acupuncture is the term used to refer to the application of a pulsating electrical current to acupuncture needles to acupuncture points on the body. This electrode provides a gentle vibration that stimulates the qi running through these points. It is often very soothing to the patient, providing a soft humming and, essentially, a more fluid treatment. A unique advantage of electro-acupuncture is its ability to simulate an area larger than the needle itself.
Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small glass cups or bamboo jars as suction devices that are placed on the skin. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.
Infrared light therapy utilizes the beneficial effects of infrared light to help address health conditions. Energy from the lights penetrates beneath the skin and is absorbed by deep tissues. This type of therapy offers a strong benefit for many health conditions while operating in a totally non-invasive manner.
Tui Na is a therapeutic form of massage and has been used in China for more than 5,000 years. Practitioners use their finger, hand, elbow, knee or foot to apply pressure to a specific body location such as meridians, acupoints, and groups of muscles and nerves, to remove blockages and works deeply with the positive energy of the body. Tui na therapy is used for giving special treatments to people of all ages, from infancy to old age.
For centuries, China and other Asian countries have embraced herbal therapy. The term "herbal medicine" is somewhat misleading in that, while plant elements are by far the most commonly used substances in TCM, other, non-botanic substances are used as well: animal and mineral products are also utilized. The herbal medicine can effectively treat various diseases.
